my trans will only pull in 1st and 3rd, i have to let off the gas for it to go into 3rd. Is this common for this trans?

I just installed a rebuilt transmission in my 94 chevy 1500 4X4 I put into any gear it will not move. Jack up the rear end and the tires move but you can stop them by hand!!!!!

95 Chevy 2500 4x4,not the transmissions faulty by: Ohio boy
I have a 95 2500 4x4 truck.I also had problems with my transmission not wanting to shift out of first.It would every once in awhile.When i took it to raco,it would shift.He told me to check and see if i had 12volts to my ignition fuse(the next time it acted up).So, i turned the ignition on,(truck not running)checked voltage.It was jumping up and down,THE VOLTAGE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE 12 VOLTS AT ALL TIMES.Turns out to be a bad ignition switch harness.$300.00 was much better than $2400.00...Thanks Raco for not screwing me.....

I also have 1994 chevy with transmission probably again for the third time.But this time I feel that it is in the 4x4 itself.Felt a couple clicks (clunks)yesterday and today it won't stay in four wheel drive.It pops out and light goes out.I think that years ago when I first got it I had to take to Chevy and have some sort of a switch put in at the 4x4 shifter? Could this again be my problem or has she finally said enough is enough. Please let me know ASAP for it is snowy here in Ohio and suppose to be getting a lot more; Thanks Later Sarah

My truck has this same problem and when I talked to my mechanic buddy told me it is probably the vacuum modulator. Haven't tried anything yet because I haven't had the time. This sound reasonable to anyone or has anyone tried this?

Had same problem when worked on my uncles 94 it was not the tranny it was the wiring to the module got scorched. Replace module and wiring talked to tranny shop they see it all the time.

i have the exact same problem... it wont shift out of first, and you have to let off the gas for it to goto second. If you give it gas it high revs like its in nuetral. Does anyone have a solution? Is this normal in 1994 1500 chev 4 by 4's?

I have a 1994 1500 4x4 also. It has the same problem and I was wondering if I needed a transmission overhaul too. Sounds like I don't. Sounds like the recommended solution is an overhaul and take it back when that didn't fix it. What else could it be??? Lets try to skip the expensive part first.
