1994 Mazda B4000 2wd Truck, Starting Problems

by Diane
(Sparks, NV USA)

What does it mean when your car is making a loud fast clicking noise and the engine doesn't turn over?

Steve Says,

Thanks for asking me your question. The most likely cause of your problem is not enough voltage is getting to the starter.

There are several common causes of this condition. The first and most likely is that you have a bad battery. You can have it tested at any good auto parts store. If it is not fully charged or if it is faulty it might not be sending the right amount of voltage to your starter thus causing the clicking noise.

It could also be a starter or starter solenoid problem. If it is faulty it can cause this type of clicking noise. If the battery tests good then you probably need a new starter.

It is also possible that you have some type of wiring problem in the ignition circuit. You could also just have loose or corroded battery cables.

I hope this has helped.
