2001 Ford Focus Wagon, Vibrates

by Noah
(Maple Ridge, B.C. Canada)

Can't seem to get to the bottom of it. My 2001 Ford Focus wagon (DOC Ztec) vibrates so bad I can't even get a clear image out of the rear view mirror. Just sitting there idling or on the highway. At certain RPM's it is slightly less but mostly the same at all times. I can't seem to identify the cause. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Noah

Steve Says,

Thanks for visiting my website. Since it vibrates when you are just idling that means that it is coming from the engine and not from tires being out of balance or anything like that.

The most likely cause of vibrations when the engine is just idling is a misfire. Basically, one of the cylinders is not working the way it should. This should also cause your check engine light to come on. If you have the codes read it will tell you which cylinder is causing the problem.

It is possible that you have low fuel pressure or something like that that is causing a lean misfire but that is not as likely.

I hope this has helped you with your vibration problem.
