2002 Dodge Ram 1500 A/C is Messed Up!!

2002 dodge ram 1500 quad cab A/C only pumps cool air while driving above 40 MPH, stop at a light and 15 seconds later I'm blowing 100 degree air. I live in Texas so this is a serious problem and I don't want to get scammed by my mechanic. What do you think the problem is?

Hi, Gary. Thanks for asking me your question. The most likely cause of your problem is a low refrigerant charge. Any good repair shop should be able to recharge it if that's what it is. If you want to avoid getting ripped off you should take your car to a shop and ask them to diagnose your car only, do not have them repair it, just figure out what it wrong. After you have their written diagnosis, then take your car to a different shop and have them do the same thing. If they both say the same thing then you know what your problem is.
