2002 Toyota Camry, Won't Idle After Changing Battery

The battery on my 2002 Toyota Camry died. Immediately after a new battery was put in, the car wouldn't idle. It runs OK as long as the gas pedal pressed.

Steve Says,

Thanks for using my website to ask your car question. The most likely cause of your problem is that your computer needs to "re-learn" its idle settings. Since you replaced your battery all of the computers memory has likely been erased.

The first thing you should try is just driving it. Many times this type of problem with resolve itself after 20-30 miles of driving.

Sometimes a relearn procedure must be performed using a factory scan tool. This usually needs to be done at a dealer so if driving it does not work then you might want to try that.

I hope this has helped.
