Thanks so much for the reply. You're right, it was the sensors, but by some miracle it was nothing at all to do with the original repairs made!!! Ha ha!! They told me it was the rear speed sensors that had somehow moved out of position so they were not being read properly.
It took their mechanic 2 hours to diagnose and 'fix' the problem. The dealership gave me a "deal" and only charged me one hour ($102).
I am not done with them yet. I have a call in to the service manager. I have paid the bill and got my van back (don't want anything else to happen to it mysteriously!), but will ask the manager to refund my $102.
I also plan to point him to this page. I am sure it didn't take you 2 hours to figure out the problem and you didn't even get to see it. It is tough to diagnose from a written description and clearly you did and you did it accurately! I am impressed!!
Thanks again Steve!!
Steve Says,
Wow, I'm surprised that it had nothing to do with the original repairs. Usually when something strange happens right after repairs are made it is because of something that was not put back correctly, BUT not always. I guess this was one of those times.
I do have to say to their credit that it does take some time to diagnose which sensor is not working and whether it is in the sensor or somewhere else. I could tell from your description that the most likely cause of the problem was the sensor but it would have taken me extra time to figure out for sure which one it was if your car were in my shop.
I'm so glad that you have it all figured out and are able to safely drive your car again.
