2005 Pontiac Grand Prix, Gas Cap Light on DIC Won't Go Out

I have replaced the gas cap and made sure it was tight, the light will not go out. What should I do?

Steve Says,

Thanks for asking me your gas cap question. You have done the thing that I would recommend to do first and that is to replace the gas cap. Since that did not work there are a few other things that might be causing your problem.

There could be a leak in the evap system or it could be a wiring problem causing the light to come on when it should not. To check this you will need to take your car to a repair shop where they can do a smoke test. Basically they will introduce smoke into your evap system and see where it leaks.

Be sure that the fuel cap that you bought is a good quality one as well.
