Thanks Steve for the prompt reply. Your solutions noted were valid ones however as it turns out I found my problem to be something a bit different. Wow, who would have thought. Unbeknown to me my wife had gone out and made a new replacement key for our 2005 4Runner. Yes, as you can guess it's was NOT a "Smart Key" from the Toyota Dealership. Once the original key was used, it started right up.
Hope this helps out others with possibly the same issue down the road.
