Quick Lube Rip Off Story
by Jason Remington

I have stood and watched a few times at the oil and lube shops, usually find that they are doing a quality job. I have only had one real nightmare story with a mechanic.
I took my car in for a tune-up. There were no other problems whatsoever, the car was in fine condition. I received a call that I needed major engine repair. When I got to the shop, the engine was making a horrible grinding noise -- they obviously screwed something up!
I ended up having a back-yard mechanic replace the engine, long story short, the shop got away with it, but I did manage to tell several people about the horrible workmanship.

Hi, Jason! Thanks for the submission.
I have found that most of the quick lube type places do pretty good, but some really do not. Your story illustrates one of the worst things that can happen from doing business with this type of company. I have heard of this happening fairly often where they mess up something on a car and will not fix it and will not pay to have it fixed. I have personally had to fix several of their "mess-ups" (mostly the oil plug being miss threaded) because they would not fix it and they refused to pay for it. For anyone who finds this happening to them you can contact the manager of the store, and if that does no good then you can contact the corporate headquarters, they are many times much easier to work with.
